Privacy Policy for Quack Chrome Extension

Last Updated: September 26, 2024

1. Introduction

Quack is a non-invasive Chrome extension designed to help users quickly copy and paste URLs for job applications. This privacy policy outlines our commitment to protecting your privacy and explains how we handle your data.

2. Personal Data

Quack has never collected and will never collect any personal data, browsing history, or any other user-specific information. Our extension operates solely to facilitate the copying and pasting of URLs without storing or transmitting any personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

Quack does not utilize any third-party services for data processing or storage. All operations are performed locally within the Chrome browser environment.

3.1 Link Input Management

Inputs for GitHub, LinkedIn, and portfolio links are loaded from Chrome's sync storage. This means that your links are stored locally on your device and, if you choose to use Chrome's sync feature, may be synced across your devices. Custom links are dynamically generated and stored along with the predefined links.

3.2 Saving Links

When you use the 'save' button, Quack collects data from input fields, including any custom links, and saves them back to Chrome's storage. This data remains on your local device and is not transmitted to any external servers.

3.3 Copying to Clipboard

Each link (GitHub, LinkedIn, Portfolio, and custom links) can be copied to the clipboard with a button click using the navigator.clipboard API. This operation is performed locally and does not involve any data transmission outside of your device.

4. Data Security

While Quack does not collect or transmit personal data, we still prioritize the security of your locally stored information. The extension uses Chrome's built-in storage mechanisms, which are designed with security in mind.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
